Summer is on its peak in Cebu (it’s always summer here in Cebu, but right now, it’s on its peak). For the tourists who go diving or not, try to go out for an island picnic and enjoy the sea in Cebu. It’s just a bit far from Mactan and a fantastically beautiful tropical island awaits you.

        The island is not only for the tourists but also for the people living in Cebu. Hey, don’t you want to go out for an island picnic to enjoy and get over the very hot summer?

        I have been to Pandanon Island (right photo). It is a one big island during low tide but it separates to two islands during high tide. The white sand shown on the right photo widens during low tide. It’s just so fantastic! (The beauty of the island really changes during high tide.)

        You can go diving on the way to Pandanon Island. Look at the tank carefully on the right side of the photo on the left. It was offered by Kobanzame. Aside from diving you can also do snorkeling.

        There are staff watching over the people doing snorkeling so you can also let your children join you to have fun in the water. We recommend that you bring ringed floaters and goggles used for pools for children who cannot swim. For those who have no ringed floaters, they can lend you life jackets. So let’s check it out.

        As for lunch, BBQ has always been the usual lunch for picnics. Some islands like the Nalusuan Island have restaurants but others do not have so when planning or applying for an island picnic, make sure you let them know about the things you want from an island.

        Going ashore, eating while playing around can also be fun but they said that there are flies around so we decided to take our lunch on the motorboat. There is a motorboat in Pandanon Island where you can take your meals.

        Now let’s go ashore and relax.This is the time children can really play around. My kid first experienced to play on the sands in the park on the year he graduated but it’s a different thing when we talk about sands on a beautiful island like Pandanon. The family would definitely enjoy more if they bring with them a complete set of sand tools.

        Talking about playing on the sand, what my family likes most to do is making sand castle of a Hermit Crab. This is surprisingly fun. I especially recommend this for children nowadays who have slimmer chances in touching living creatures.

        There are a lot of vendors wherever island you may go. Try to ask the opinion of the guide or staff with you about the price of the products before you buy. Often, these vendors sell their products in a very expensive price. The thing that the old female vendor is holding (→) is a dried sea horse. “It’s a Filipino Viagra!”, explained by the vendor.
