I think, Filipinos don’t have clear idea of owning a “pet”. Dogs are everywhere, and I presume that they are not ideally as pet dogs.

And with cats, seldom owned them as pet, usually some have them just to let it chased with the rats that destroyed with their things, and sometimes cats were feed on left over only.

I get an impression that some Filipinos, owning a pet is close to owning livestock. The prior condition in owning chickens, goats, cows and pigs may be based on consumption of its meat and milk.

Most popular pet is chicken. Not an ordinary chicken but fighting cock. Next to chicken would be goat.

Its milk and meat can be consumed. (In the Philippines, goat meat is eaten and it usually served in ordinary dinning)

Speaking of goat, here is a story.

Other day, I went to pick up customer from hotel.

There was this really young couple they must be in their teen or at least in their high school. Wow, didn’t realize young couple can take oversea vacation.

The couple curiously watched the view out of the car window.

        Abruptly, girl opened her mouth.

Hey! Look!Look!

It’s so cute!!! It’s a sheep!!

        (Me?Sheep?)

Dork, that isn’t a sheep.

That is why they say you aren’t smart.

That is a donkey, DONKEY!!

        (Me?Donkey?)

Oh, so that’s donkey.

You are so smart! Ken.

OHHH! Look!!

There is a big donkey!!!

        (I’m donkey too?)
